2024-2025 Travel Tryout Information

Travel tryout dates for the 2024-2025 season are here.

  • Tryouts  will be held at Great Embankment Park on fields 2 and/or 3.
  • Tryouts will happen rain or shine, unless town fields are closed. Field status can be found on our home page.
  • Come to the tryouts with cleats, shin guards, soccer ball and water.
  • $25 non-refundable registration fee.

If a player is not able to attend their specified tryout date and time, the player should attend the tryout for the next age group up. For example, a 2015 player who could not attend their tryout should then attend the 2014 tryout.

Commonly Asked Questions

What soccer skills are required to be considered for travel soccer?

Participation in a house league or similar program is encouraged before making the commitment to travel soccer.

Can a player tryout for Select and Travel?

In age groups where the club has decided to form a select team, players may be invited to select tryouts that will be held immediately after travel tryouts.

How are teams formed?

Travel teams are formed based on independent player evaluations from tryout evaluators and the input of coaches.

How are teams placed in RDYSL?

RDYSL makes the final decision on division placement. Individual teams request a division via a form with supporting information. That information along with prior season records, the composition of the team, and the total number of team's participating at each level is taken into consideration by RDYSL for team placement.

How often are practices?

At least once a week. View at-a-glance program information for more details.

How far away are games?

Games are generally played within Monroe and Ontario counties. Travel for tournaments can vary.

How many tournaments do travel teams participate in?

This is at the discretion of the coaches and team, but typically travel teams participate in at least one tournament per year.

How big are travel teams?

Team sizes vary by age group. Roster sizes are set by RDYSL (rule 305).

U13-U19 11 22

Are players insured for possible injury and/or hospitalization?

Each player is insured through the New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA). Insured players are covered for injuries (or death) resulting directly and independently of all other causes, from accidents occurring while participating in the following covered activities:

  • Scheduled games, team practice sessions or sponsored activities, provided they are under the direct supervision of a team official; or sanctioned local or national tournaments as a member of a contestant team.
  • Organized, supervised group travel as authorized by the Policyholder directly to and from a covered event. The plan does not provide coverage for: (1) intentionally self-inflicted injury; (2) air travel except as a fare-paying passenger on a regularly scheduled airline on a scheduled flight; (3) injuries resulting from other than Covered Activities; (4) loss resulting from sickness or disease, except bacterial infection which occurs through an accidental wound.
Is there a refund policy?
  • Travel tryouts: registration fee is non-refundable under any conditions.
  • Travel program: after October 1, no refunds will be provided unless:
    • A player cannot participate based on a medical condition/injury that impedes play after the start of the program. A partial (pro-rated) refund will be provided if an acceptable Doctor’s letter is provided and if the full program payment has already been received.
    • A player cannot participate based on a medical condition/injury as a result of playing soccer within the season/program. A partial (pro-rated) refund will be provided if an acceptable Doctor’s letter and accident report is provided and if the full program payment has been received.
    • If a player has been suspended from the Mustangs for not following the Mustang’s Player Responsibilities, a refund will not be provided.
  • Administrative fees as part of registration costs will not be refunded.

Payment for any Mustangs program is completed through the Sports Engine system, and we cannot accommodate offline transactions.
